Thousands of years ago, chia or oil sage (Salvia hispanica) seeds were part of the daily diet of Mayans and Aztecs. Warriors gained energy and strength from the seeds. Chia seeds are popular with athletes, especially long-distance runners.
Use: add to smoothies, juice or salads. Soak in water, juice or milk for 10 minutes before use.
